Happy Birthday to Me

Yesterday I was given a Bundt baking tin by Hannah and Ian for my birthday so obviously I had to try it out. Bundt ( pronounced Bunt) cakes are thought to have originated in Austria or Germany but they are very popular in America and a lot of recipes on line and in books are written in American cup measures. I was also given a recipe book so I decided to start with a basic cake, Frances you would call this a yellow cake, I call it a Victoria Sponge. It was very easy to make, once I had converted cups to grams, and very easy to remove from the tin, a fact that really surprised but pleased me, I was expecting problems. The cake was tasty and looked impressive, well I was impressed!

I’m told it was very nice.
Happy Birthday Marie. Cake looks perfect. How did you get it out that clean !!
I buttered and floured the tin waited 5 minutes when it came out of the oven then crossed my fingers, it slid right out much to my amazement. The tin is made by Nordic Ware, I’ve got another of their pans and they release reliably.
